Where to start?

A few tips as you get started:

  • Google is your friend, but use it as a starter to move on to other options
    • Have you used Google Scholar?
  • Spend time thinking about search terms
    • And always be on the lookout for new search terms
  • Try the advance search options on a database
  • Never hesitate to ask a librarian for assistance

Any books on your topic?  Check the Library Catalog. Remember the advanced search feature adding the ability to search for subject headings.

Other Options

Other law school libraries may have research guides (similar to this one) on the various topics under the intellectual property umbrella.  As an example, Georgetown's Law Library provides guides on the following.  These include subject heading options to potentially assist in broadening search terms:

Under the Practice Area "tab," you will see the following topics:

IP Specific - Westlaw Edge

Also under the Practice Areas "tab," you will find the Intellectual Property heading.  This includes the same type of information as found on Lexis+, with subheadings for Patent, Trademark, and Copyright.

Bloomberg Law Practice Centers
